25-07-2024 SSF & CSC working together
SSF have been told via IFSS that some UK mushers calling themselves the UKSF have paid IFSS membership dues around 9 months ago!!..thus giving the UK an official link with IFSS ...well done at last!!
SSF Scotlands only sleddog Federation came out of IFSS and got there membership money back due to some UK teams not wanting to pay membership to the very events they raced in .SSF helped make sure UKSF officially paid there dues to IFSS. I plus others in the UK would really like to hear what UKSF have to offer (maybe we could even join?) and who are the committee members ..as to date no one has heard of them ..no coverage on any sleddog clubs websites or talks at UK club AGMs....lets hope they can offer an IFSS a Dryland event here in the UK soon ..something SSF could have done this year .SSF tried to bring a WC Dryland event to Scotland a few year ago with DSS involved .. DSS another "sleddog organisation" who seem to have disappeared ..the amount of media coverage and £ grants DSS got will go down in history ..sadly DSS project will remain a hurdle..always when it comes down to our sport & mushers asking for financial help ever again..a lot of money given ...what did the sport get in return..?
SSF still work closely with IFSS head of development Tim White. CSC is helping to establish the very first Sleddog Club & Fed & Centre in Ireland. Alan Stewart of the CSC is the SSF Chairman 2008/09 SSF has a committee of 6 and are members of PRIDE.
"Its time the UK had a real UK championship.. start inter club events here in the UK & in Europe.. plus have an event which teams truly have to train for ....SDAS (Only officially recognised sleddog club in UK) are members of ESDRA they need to start being involved with ESDRA not just have a logo on there website....UKSF get involved with IFSS...if there is a UKSF out there? ie Both bid for Euro/World championship events go to there AGMs.."there is much more than not just a burger van and a bag of dog food as prizes..and 3 miles round a forest track every season".. Alan Stewart July 2008.
