29-01-2025 CSC hands SDAS / Event Scotland interest to hold a World Dryland event in Scotland 2013
"Have been up this road before ..last time was with DSS they went bust and had no intentions of bidding for event ..SDAS is the only UK official sleddog club which are IFSS membership linked and who can bid ..the rest are breed clubs or private run weekend meeting clubs only ,I personally believe SDAS could and should work with Event Scotland in a real UK event not a WC. ..which will bring all UK clubs to one good event ..as to hold a Dryland WC with bids ranging £10k plus.. and the organization that gos with it,bottom line who would come to Scotland to race round a 4 mile forest road for 2 days..Its a massive financial bourdon on a club who todate has no financial backers and relays on entry fees to hold events..nor have any links with Euro clubs..the baggage via IFSS also brings to those events ..covering the cost of IFSS officials etc..who emailed me for SDAS email contact.they never even knew SDAS details ??..and only a few months ago did not really help with the EEC law Last time IFSS came close to our shores they held there AGM in Ireland ..a country who now has more race judges than race teams after visit?.What usually happens is a successful sleddog club approaches IFSS or ESDRA to bid for an event like a Dryland WC ..setting up a WC event is something which would be good for the sport in UK ..but is there people out there who could pull it off..having a WC is a bit more than a weekend with a burger van & loo on site ..the very facted £15k easy would have to be found to make it happen is what Id be looking at if I was SDAS ..glad Iam not involved in any UK clubs..nor ever wish to be again...but I do know a few people in Scotland who could pull this WC off very easy ..its up to SDAS to speak to the right people within the sport now if they want to bring this bid to Scotland and make sure the event dos not look a farce ..will all UK teams in it!!!
