15-02-2025 General Wades Road Quest 2011..with Sleddogs.
When Wade set out to "tame" the Scottish highlands and the remote clans back in 1745,Iam sure he never thought that one day a team of Alaskan Huskys would cross his roads ..In 2011 in mid winter a hand picked team of Alaskan Huskys will travel over 100 miles ..deep into the remotest areas of the Scottish Highlands ..The Wades Quest is the brain child of two top extreme outdoor adventure companys in Scotland, both based near Aviemore ..The Cairngorm Sleddog Centre and Back Country Survival.
Alan Stewart MD of CSC talks about the venture.."Over the years I have taken my sleddogs into some very remote areas..first and only sleddog team to cross the Cairngorm mountain range including MacDui mid winter.. traversed parts of Ben Nevis ..but the real history of the highlands with red coats and clans still fascinates me..Wade was sent to Scotland to build roads to move troops quickly around the highlands (.From 1724 to 1740 he was Commander in Chief of the English army in North Britain) .to date those roads and awesome bridges have never been seen mid winter, cut off by snow bound trails ..we here at the CSC have the very best way to get into those areas..Alaskan Huskys ..with a hand picked specialist team we will get into those remote areas and cover over 100 miles ..and with up to date technology the venture will be covered on the web..as it happens".
