Sled dog Centre History - The Centre is based within the Cairngorm National Park only 3 miles outside Aviemore on the Ski road towards the funicular railway. The centre has been a member of the Highlands of Scotland Tourist board for the past 2 years & The Cairngorm Chamber of Commerce based in Aviemore.

The Stewart family lives in a 300-year-old cottage called Moormore & their sled dogs live & work from their MacAllan whisky barrels behind the cottage.
There is a small museum dedicated to Alec "Scotty" Allan. Top"Mushers" & extreme explorers from around the world have visited & signed photos that can be seen when you visit the museum area at the centre. The centre opened Jan 2nd by Lorna Shand (great niece of Alec"Scotty" Allan). Alan was able to track Lorna down using contacts in the USA to Aberdeen. The full Cairngorm mountain range is in panoramic view from the centre. Alan has spent nine months setting up the cottage in this very special place.

The Cairngorms are one of the most protected areas in Scotland & to enable the centre to work Alan is required to work hand in hand with the Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) organisation& bird of prey specialists in this area. The last person to have lived in the cottage was the Finn who brought the first reindeer into Scotland 48 years ago & they were kept as a herd at Moormore. The cottage only now has running water & drainage September 2002.
